PreIntegrated Mathematics A

Course Abstract
PreIntegrated Mathematics is our remedial level course at the 9th grade level. It consists of five units in each term. There are two units in Number Sense, one unit in Statistics, one unit in Geometry and one unit in Algebra. The purpose of the course is to prepare students to enter Integrated 1.
Unit One - Fraction Times

This unit explores the relationship between parts and the whole in the form of fractions.

EALR's:
1 Number Sense
1.1.1 demonstrates understanding of whole and fractional numbers
2 The student uses mathematics to solve problems
3 The student uses mathematical reasoning
4 The student uses mathematical and every day language to communicate understanding
5 The student understands how mathematical ideas connect within mathematics, to other subject areas and to real-life situations.
Unit Two - More or Less

This unit further explores the relationship between parts and the whole in the form of decimals and percentages.

EALR's:
1 Number Sense
1.1.1 demonstrates understanding of decimals and percents
2 The student uses mathematics to solve problems
3 The student uses mathematical reasoning
4 The student uses mathematical and every day language to communicate understanding
5 The student understands how mathematical ideas connect within mathematics, to other subject areas and to real-life situations.
Unit Three - Dealing with Data

This unit explores the organization and interpretation of data

EALR's:
1 Statistics
1.4 understand and apply concepts and procedures from statistics
2 The student uses mathematics to solve problems
3 The student uses mathematical reasoning
4 The student uses mathematical and every day language to communicate understanding
5 The student understands how mathematical ideas connect within mathematics, to other subject areas and to real-life situations.
