Writing
This course is about teaching students to write an interesting paragraph
with appropriate organization, word choice, sentence fluency, and conventions
and to use the steps of the writing process
Unit 1 - Organization
Students will learn how to write a paragraph with a topic sentence,
supporting sentences and a closing sentence. They will also learn how
to use sequencing words to write a paragraph. The will learn the difference
between expository and narrative writing and be able to write an example of each
Unit 2 - Sentence Fluency
Students will learn how to write more interesting paragraphs by writing
sentences with varied beginnings and lengths, and by including interesting details
Unit 3 - Writing Process
Student will learn the 5 steps of the writing process and use
these to create a piece of writing
Lesson One - Parts of a Paragraph
Students will learn how to write a paragraph to include proper indenting, a
topic sentence, 4 or more interesting supporting sentences, and a closing sentence

Lesson Two - Writing Process; Prewriting
Students will become familiar with and use word webs, wh- questions
and listing, to prewrite for a final piece of writing.

Lesson Three - Writing Process; Revise
Students will learn to revise for a smooth beginning, middle and end
of their writing and to use relevant and interesting supporting sentences
to enhance their writing.
