7 Science
Course Abstract
Grade Seven Science is about how the components of nature
can be organized and described, and about how those components interact
and change.
Unit One - Astronomy
Earth movements in space, the earth-moon system, Earth in the
Solar System, adaptations, stars, earth in the universe, Astronomical
distances.
- EALR's:
- Science:
1.2 Recognize the components, structure, and organization of
systems and the interconnections within and among them.
1.3 Understand how interactions within and among systems cause
changes in matter and energy.
2.1 Develop abilities necessary to do scientific inquiry.
3.1 Understand the nature of scientific inquiry.
3.2 Know that science and technology are human endeavors, interrelated
to each other, to society, and to the workplace.
Unit Two - The Restless Earth
Properties of rocks & minerals, Earth crustal and subcrustal
movements-causes and effects, types of rocks, factors affecting
crystal size, fossils and layering, recycling, geologic/relative
time, extinction.
- EALR's:
- Science:
1.1 Use properties to identify, describe, and categorize substances,
materials, and objects, (and use characteristics to categorize
living things
1.2 Recognize the components, structure, and organization of
systems and the interconnections within and among them.
1.3 Understand how interactions within and among systems cause
changes in matter and energy.
2.1 Develop abilities necessary to do scientific inquiry.
3.1 Understand the nature of scientific inquiry.
3.2 Know that science and technology are human endeavors, interrelated
to each other, to society, and to the workplace.
Unit Three - Solutions
Recognition of science processes, experimental design, elements
of a solution, solution interactions and systems, patterns of
change in solutions affecting physical properties
- EALR's:
- Science
1.1 Use properties to identify, describe, and categorize substances,
materials, and objects, (and use characteristics to categorize
living things
