Mathematics

Course Abstract
Fourth Grade Mathematics includes number and numeration by identifying place value and patterns; computations such as multiplication, division, addition and subtraction; measurement of length, width, area, perimeter, volume, capacity and weight; exploring angles and geometric shapes such as, triangles, quadrilaterals, and prisms; collect, describe, organize and draw conclusions of data using probability and statistics; apply algebraic sense to describe patterns using words and numbers.
Unit One - Computation

Use addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to solve problems; convert improper fractions to mixed numbers and vice versa; determine common denominators; use calculators to solve two step problems

EALR's:
Math
1.1 understands and applies concepts and procedures from number sense
Unit Two - Measurement

Use standard and metric units to describe and compare objects; estimate and use approximation; accurately use measuring tools to compare objects

EALR's:
Math
1.2 understands and applies concepts and procedures from measurement
Unit Three - Geometric Sense

Name and identify attributes of various shapes including 3-dimensional shapes; identify bilateral symmetry, congruence and similarity; draw parallel and perpendicular lines

EALR's:
Math
1.3 understands and applies concepts and procedures from geometric sense
