Investigations in Number, Data and Space

Course Abstract
Second grade math is about developing flexibility in approaching problems, fluency in using mathematical skills and proficiency in evaluating their solutions.
Unit One - The Number System

Developing a sense of numbers and beginning to look for patterns and relationships

EALR's:
Math
1.1 understand and apply concepts and procedures from number sense
3.1 analyze information from a variety of sources: using models, known facts, patterns, and relationships to validate thinking
Unit Two - Geometry

Exploring the structure of shapes and how they can be taken apart or put together into other shapes

Unit Three - Addition and Subtraction

Developing strategies for solving addition and subtraction problems
