Frameworks
for Science and Social Studies
Based
on the Washington State Essential Learnings
Here
in Washington State, we think of educational Frameworks as the sequence
of standards within various content areas. We are given the standards
for grades 4,7, and 10; the Frameworks offer suggestions for what
connecting standards might be at the other grades--thereby offering
instructional and assessment guidance.
In Skagit
Valley Network 2 (1997-98), teachers needed frameworks in science
and social studies in order to build appropriate grade level classroom
based performance assessments.
The seven
districts collaborating on this project chose several state provided
standards for their chosen content area, then developed K-10 frameworks
which they shared with peers before using these "standards" as guides
for the development of performance assessments.
Here
you will find K-10 science and social studies sequence developed
by successful practitioners.
